When Will America Be Great?
Hint: It won’t be when we find out who won the election…
The past week has shown how truly broken America has become.
In a world where you can shop, date, bet and make a living online, we have a voting process straight out of Walnut Creek.
There are laws and guidelines.
Mail in ballots are legal.
So are absentee ballots.
These didn't become the rules to shortchange one candidate in 2020.
Early voting has taken center stage thanks to a nationwide pandemic that rages on.
Everyone who has a right to vote should have whatever opportunity they need to cast a ballot.
That's democracy.
That's America...
Regardless of who wins, the voice of the people shall be heard.
But 2020 has shown that we need to do better.
The American people deserve better.
Different states having vastly different rules makes no sense.
Accommodate voters so their ballots can be cast.
Everyone can't walk into a polling place on Election Day.
Have similar cut off dates/times for ballots to be received.
Then start counting at the same time.
There's no reason to hold early ballots and not begin counting til Election Day.
It creates opportunity for Conspiracy Theories.
We don't want to write the script for Oliver Stone's next film.
Reduce the delays.
The American people deserve better.
One more thing....
You are not your ballot.
Neither am I.
Do you believe EVERYTHING that your candidate says and does?
Christ, I hope not....
We are becoming a country of extremes and if we are ever going to move forward collectively, it needs to stop.
The center can hold.
I live my life...I believe people should be able to live theirs.
With a few obvious (hopefully) caveats.
Don’t hurt anyone.
Don't believe your lifestyle and choices are the ONLY choice.
Don't belittle or be intolerant of someone else's choices if you don't agree with them.
Marry who you want...
Go buy that gun.
Be free to choose what you do with your body.
As far as religion goes, I don't care if you start your morning with chants to Doug Flynn's 1980 Gold Glove Award...
Live and let live.
Be an independent thinker...
Stop being a judgmental idiot.
Everyone is not like you.
But we are more alike than the media, the politicians and the extremists want to admit.
We need to embrace those similarities and move forward together.
THAT'S when America will be great...
